Hello all
On the cPanle you can do a full backup. I regularly do full back however I use FLV files on my site. I would like to do a backup without these files being present in the rar file. Is this possible? Last edited by esurge; 08-08-2008 at 12:43 PM. |

I've never tried this myself, but you can place a file called: .cpbackup-skip
Yes, the . is supposed to be there. In the directories you don't want backed up.

Gave a go... and worked a treat. A follow up question, can you automate backups with cron job. E.g. every week or so. Thank you. |

You can with your own script. Our backups are of course automated, but we do not wish to change the frequency of these, as they are very resource intensive.

Have you managed to create your backup script?
This is something I Googled and after a bit of effort created 2 scripts for each site. 1) Nightly backup of all databases. 2) Weekly backup of the site. (They are CMSs so the content is in the database.) The weekly backup uses the cPanel backup so should work with the .backip.skip. The scripts FTP the backups to a Linux box that is running an FTP server that is on my home network with specified outside IP address access on the FTP port of the router. If you want to look at the scripts I can let you have copies. Paul.

Does the cpanel backup email configurations as well?
It mentions forwards but I need to do the actual account settings also. I have one of my websites looking to move server and they want a "Full Backup - including email config". |
